The vast majority of the tanagers are tropical birds; all are located in the Americas.  Recent scientific advances show that the majority of North American tanagers are more closely related to the Northern Cardinal than to the other tanagers.  Regardless of how you classify them, the brilliant colors of the tanager make it an ideal subject for our tanager Christmas ornaments!
