Wild Birds
Making treats for the birds is a fun family activity! The festive pinecones you make will attract woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, and tufted titmice. Not only will your birds be happy, but you'll be decorating your yard as well!
Pinecones
Suet
Bird Seed
Peanut Butter
String or Yarn
Collect pinecones. Tie 12 inches of string under the top layer on the pinecone scales, near the stem. Place pinecones on wax paper.
Melt suet using low heat. Using the sting to hold the pinecones, dip the cones into the melted suet. Sprinkle seeds over suet while still warm.
Heat peanut butter in microwave using 3 ten-second intervals. Drizzle the melted peanut butter onto the pinecone.
Hang outside.
